Building the Future Interstate: Bridging From Designation to Delivery – Del Rio, Texas & Acuña, Coahuila

The conference focused on moving I‑27 from designation to delivery through sustainable federal funding, coordinated planning and construction, stronger port and border connections, and expanded trade links among Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Sessions highlighted corridor investment, economic growth, freight mobility, safety, national security, and binational cooperation.

Key Legislative Wins / Milestones

Secured $19.24 million in FY 2026 federal funding for nine planning, safety, and construction projects across Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Nebraska.
Advanced the CAFI Formula Funding proposal to establish dedicated, predictable federal funding for Congressionally Authorized Future Interstates.
Elevated I‑27 priorities in transportation reauthorization, including formula funding, a nine-state feasibility study, and extending I‑27 designation and numbering through the seven northern corridor states.

Completed a successful Washington, D.C. Fly-In, with 29 corridor representatives conducting 26 congressional meetings and engaging FHWA and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Advanced Texas I‑27 implementation through the TxDOT I‑27 Advisory Committee, corridor studies, project development, and approximately $3 billion in projects included in the FY 2027 Unified Transportation Program.
Started major Heartland Expressway work in Nebraska, including Package A of the US 26 four-lane expansion near Minatare.

Advanced approximately 18 miles of US 85 construction in North Dakota, supported by two contracts totaling approximately $145.5 million.
Strengthened the binational corridor vision, connecting Mexico Highways 29/57/40 through Acuña and Torreón with I‑27 and extending north toward Canada’s Highway 1.
Expanded the national coalition for Future Interstates, aligning corridor communities, state DOTs, congressional delegations, and CAFI partners around a unified funding and delivery strategy
