Deb Cottier is a graduate of the University of South Dakota. Moving to Nebraska in 1980, her career has included print advertising sales, Chamber of Commerce management and the past 30 years working in community and economic development. She spent 15 years as staff assistant to Governor and then US Senator Ben Nelson. She has spent the past 11 years as Executive Director of the Northwest Nebraska Development Corporation in Chadron. She is a long time member of the Board of Directors for the Heartland Expressway Association (Partner in the Ports to Plains Alliance), assuming chairmanship in 2018. She was named volunteer of the year by the Chamber of Commerce in 2014, and Economic Development Professional of the Year by the state of Nebraska Economic Developer’s Association in 2017.

Cottier and her husband Dave enjoy camping, fishing and following Husker football.
