PORTS-TO-PLAINS CONGRESSIONAL CAUCUS
Ports-to-Plains Trade Corridor Coalition began as a local government initiative to secure funding for Interstate Highway 27, the primary north-south highway corridor connecting the Texas Panhandle to the major east-west routes of Texas and, to the north, to Denver, Colorado. Thanks to those efforts, in 1998, Congress designated the Ports-to-Plains Trade Corridor a High Priority Corridor hipri-big.pdf in the Transportation Efficiency Act of the 21st Century (TEA-21).
Today, we work with partner corridors, Canadian provinces, Mexican states and others to promote progressive, sustainable, long-range infrastructure planning and economic development throughout North America's energy and agricultural heartland. Each group maintains its High Priority Corridor designation and regional identity for their work at the local level, but pool resources to pursue national and cross-border priorities.
