The Ports-to-Plains Trade Corridor Coalition and the Texas Department of Transportation invite
you to attend the 2009 Ports-to-Plains Annual Conference.
This year’s annual meeting celebrates the creation of a nine-state rural development alliance,
the Ports-to-Plains Alliance, through partnering agreements between the Lubbock-based Ports-to-Plains
Coalition and two northern partner groups, the Theodore Roosevelt Expressway Association and the
Heartland Expressway Association, based in Williston, North Dakota, and Scottsbluff, Nebraska, respectively.
We will also celebrate a new alliance with our powerful western Canadian partner, the Province of Alberta,
capital of Canada’s energy industry, and northern pillar of North America’s energy economy.
As always, we will welcome partner communities from the Texas-Mexico border, the custodians of a robust,
secure and efficient trade relationship with Mexico.
The City of Lubbock, Texas, is proud to be the largest member city (at about 218,000) on the
Ports-to-Plains Corridor, and to serve our partners throughout North America’s energy and agricultural
heartland as the Alliance headquarters. Our theme this year is Ports-to-Plains Alliance: The Keys to
the Future, and our goal is to remember what we do best, identify our common challenges and opportunities,
and, together, unlock the full potential of North America’s rural heartland.

Conference Attire
Dress for the conference will be business. Dress for the receptions will be business casual.
Conference Location
Conference welcoming reception for all attendees is scheduled from 5:30-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday,
September 30 at the Overton Hotel & Conference Center.
Conference meetings begin with registration and continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday,
Oct. 1. There will be a networking reception from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening. The conference
adjourns at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.

Money is transferrable to another participant. The registration fee will be refunded, less a $50
