Solar
The world consumes about 15 terawatts of energy each year, 80 percent of which comes from oil,
gas and coal. The sun provides 86,000 terawatts of energy each year via sunshine. By tapping into
just a fraction of that abundant resource we can truly find a renewable, plentiful and clean supply
of energy. Of course capturing and using solar energy in a cost effective manner is the great
challenge, but it is also a great opportunity for our researchers and industry.
